The Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church has a very fine and diverse music program. The choir numbers around 22 and includes all voice parts. We sing music from Bach to the Beatles and beyond. And the music is both challenging and fun. We rehearse every Sunday before the worship service from 8:45 until 9:45, and perform at least twice every month. Soloists from the church community perform during many of the Sunday services and offer a wide range of musical styles. All are welcome to join the choir.
Our instruments
We have an excellent tracker organ which was made by E and G. G. Hook and was recently restored. Since then, many local and regional organists have given recitals in our church. We also have a Steinway grand piano in the sanctuary. The sanctuary has very good acoustics and is used by many local groups as a venue for their concerts.
Parish Hall Open Stage
...is held on the first Friday of each non-summer month. Attendees are welcome to come and listen or sign up to share their musical and other artistic talents. Featured artists perform, drawn from many musical traditions including folk, jazz, and classical. Other musicians, poets, and artists of various styles are welcome to participate. Refreshments are served, and participants and audience are encouraged to make a monetary donation, some of which supports the featured artists. The events are advertised on our website, weekly bits and in local newspapers.
Kirtan
