Historical Notes

  • 1749. Town voted to support the gospel
  • 1763, first meeting house was built in Peterborough and decided to seek a minister
  • 1772/1777, second meeting house was built on East Hill
  • 1825-26 Present church building was built
  • Starting in 1834, two stoves provided heat, then in1876, they were replaced by a furnace
  • 1926, the church no longer sold pews. Pew records retained
  • 1975 new slate roof .
  • 1976 Sesquicentennial (150th year) and restoration of church.
  • 2003 Historic Tracker organ restored and re-dedicated.
  • 2003 PUUC becomes a Welcoming Congregation
  • 2009 PUUC earns Green Sanctuary status.
  • 2020 Rev. Dr. David Robins named Minister Emeritus
  • 2025 200th anniversary of Church building
