Men's Lunch
The Men's Lunch is an opportunity for men, young and old, working or retired to get together to socialize over an informal meal. Part of the group referst to themselves as the ROMEO club, that's "Retired Old Men Eating Out." Overall, all the 'men' have a good time talking politics, local news, and everyone's health.
Most lunches have from eight to twelve attending and meet at noon and one one of their favorite spots, JP Stephens (formerly Lilly's) in Rindge. This is a favorite because of their $13.50 special lunches which includes appetizer, main course and dessert all served generally away from the main dining room making conversation easier to hear.
12:00 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday of the month from September through May at different area restaurants.
Joining
Anyone interested coming to a lunch is welcome anytime. Contact the coordinator ahead of time so he can reserve the restaurant and arrange rides for those who need them.
Coordinator
Rotating responsibility. Check with the church office for each month's coordinator. As of 2013, the men's lunch is on hiatus. Hopefully this group will consider gathering again soon in the future.
SASS
SASS is a group open to women of a certain age who gather over a brown bag lunch to consider the common concerns that arise and unite us as we grow older, offering encouragement and support that only mutual experiences can bring. Each session begins with lunch, candle lighting, reading, and check-ins from all those present. Topics of discussion arise naturally and include such concerns as: transitions, many kinds of loss, letting go of the past, life changing choices, aging positively, physical safety, and dealing with illness in ourselves and others.
Meeting Times
12:30 pm on the 1st and 3rd Mondays in the dining room. The group meets most of the year, even in the summer.
Joining
By its very nature the group is limited in size. Senior women interested in these topics are welcome. Contact a coordinator about joining.
