Intergenerational Outdoor Service
“Celebrating the Earth”
at Cathedral of the Pines
September 24, 2017  10:15am

This year we decided to try out a different venue for our outdoor service, the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, after receiving their generous offer to use the space for free.  For anyone who isn’t familiar with Cathedral of the Pines, it is a beautiful open air worship space built as a memorial to America’s war dead. One of its central features is the altar of nations which contains rocks from all over the world and has a backdrop of Mt. Monadnock in the distance.

The cathedral site offers easy parking and greater accessability and indoor worhip space in the Hilltop House should the weather not cooperate. It is a 15 minute drive from the UU church if you take 124E in Jaffrey and is slightly longer if you take 119 in Rindge.

Directions:
Follow Grove St to US-202 W/Jaffrey Rd
3 min (0.8 mi)

Continue onto US-202 W/Jaffrey Rd
7 min (5.1 mi)

Take NH-124 E, Prescott Rd and Cathedral Rd to Hale Hill Rd in Rindge
8 min (4.3 mi)

Much will be the same about our outdoor service.

You are invited to bring something to place on the altar that represents your connection to or gratitude for the earth or its creatures, or a prayer that you want to put out to the universe.
Community time will follow the worship service. The Worship Committee will be providing snacks and cider, but other contributions would be most welcome.
Seating in the cathedral is backless wooden benches. If you would be more comfortable in a lawn chair there is space to set up chairs in front of the benches and off to the side.
Children are welcome! There is a grassy area where a blanket will be set up for young children to sit.

There will be no nursery care or Religious Education for this week's outdoor service at Cathedral of the Pines.
